About name table
The Name Table in the AthTek NetWalk is used for constructing and maintaining symbolic names for network devices and processes. Since most people find it easier to remember names than IP addresses, the Name Table can be an invaluable aid when troubleshooting network data.
For example, instead of trying to remember that the IP address 192.168.1.254 is used on an interface on a router in your company network, you can use the Name Table to refer to this address simply as Cmpany Router. Careful maintenance of Name Table entries can help make network troubleshooting much more intuitive. To turn on/off resolving addresses to symbolic names, see Options of Others.
