Network/Transport layer

At the Network/Transport layer, AthTek NetWalk tracks the layer three and layer four hosts underlying the application flows displayed at the Application layer. Counters and statistics are provided for protocols in the TCP/IP family, including UDP, TCP, and ICMP.

You view displays at the Network/Transport layer by clicking Network/Transport in the Layers panel. In response, the Main panel updates with the following tabs of Network/Transport layer displays:

The overview page

The Overview page provides a wide variety of counters and statistics describing total observed network layer traffic. Separate packet counts and response time counters are provided for a wide variety of TCP/IP traffic (for example, IP, TCP, UDP, ARP, and ICMP). Figure 6-6 shows the Overview panel.

The IP hosts page

The Hosts page provides counters and statistics describing and quantifying the traffic for each detected network layer host. Figure 6-5 shows an example of the Hosts panel.

The ICMP page

The ICMP page provides a detail list of counters to describe all ICMP traffic.
